Life As I Know It

“Mom, will you eat lunch with me today?”

June 29th 2009 in Family

I hope it doesn’t seem silly to post this now, but I wrote it when Hannah was still in school a couple of months ago; I just never published it. But here goes:

My 11-year-old daughter asked me to come to her school and eat lunch with her today. I think it’s great that she still wants me to come, sit with her and her friends, and be a part of her world. After working in student ministry with middle school and high school students for 12 years with my husband, I realize there will probably come a day when she won’t want me to hang out with her – especially when her friends are around.

It seems like just yesterday when I kissed her sweet, soft face in the delivery room. Now she will be going to middle school this fall. Time does have wings and it flies by very fast.

Need to go – I’ve got a lunch date with my daughter and I can’t be late.
