Life As I Know It

The 22-year-old Bible

April 26th 2010 in Faith

A long time ago – 22 years exactly – I gave a Bible to a dear friend of mine. At the time, it was not an easy gift to give. She thought I was some kind of holy-roller trying to tell her that she was a horrible sinner. I really loved her, so I took the chance of making her mad by giving her the Bible anyway.

I just heard from her recently and was brought to tears when she told me that she still has the Bible and it is practically falling apart from her use. She is on staff at a church in a nearby town and leads people on international mission trips. She told me that she keeps that Bible on her desk.

Wow. I am just blown away by God’s incredible faithfulness. Even though I loved her (and still do), He loved her more and He already knew the plans He had for her. I am so thankful that He allowed me to be a part of those plans.
